Free Audio Books

I have been busy lately getting some of our books up on Audible and iTunes as audio books.  As an author and publisher, this is another stream of income that can add to your bottom line.  Are you publishing audio books?

If you haven’t done any audio books yet, here is how it works:

  • go through your catalogue of existing books to see which ones would do well as audiobooks (generally, how-to books do not lend themselves to audiobooks, but self-help, fiction, history, and true crime are great options)
  • sign up for an account at ACX (Amazon’s option for creating and selling audio books)
  • claim your published books that you would like to turn into audio books, by searching for them in the search field provided
  • decide if you will record the audio files yourself or work with a producer
  • if you are recording the audio files yourself, start recording, editing, and uploading your files
  • if you are working with a producer, tell producers that your books are available for auditioning
  • receive and review auditions from producers willing to produce your books
  • choose a producer to work with and wait for their audio file submissions
  • order the cover art for your audio book and upload it once it is complete
  • approve your audio files and submit to ACX
  • wait 7-10 days for your audio book to be approved for sale
  • receive 25 free codes to give away for each of your published audio books

The process may seem long, but it’s not bad at all.  I have been working with a variety of producers and I have always chosen the 50-50 royalty split option for payment.   However, my friend Derek Doepker is releasing his new program, Audiobooks Made Easy, on Friday, September 18th.  I have reviewed his course and I am ready to try recording my own audio files!  I’m really excited about it, as recording my own voice files will double my income from each audio book – that is huge!  Click here for early access to Derek’s program, which launches tomorrow.

In the meantime, I still have a few free audiobooks to give away for the following books:

  • Hollywood Homicides
  • Titanic Facts
  • Remembering Raven: Cheyenne
  • Remembering Raven: Always Mine
  • The Case of the New Kid on the Block

Simple comment below with your email address and I will send you a free download code for any of the books that you would like (until they run out, that is).

Enjoy!

Barb

  1. Thank you for your time and efforts to have had these things together on this blog. John and I very much valued your input through your own articles over certain things. I realize that you have several demands on timetable so the fact that you actually took just as much time as you did to steer people just like us via this article is even highly appreciated.
